Press Release:

(Asheville, NC) – The Market Place Restaurant will be hosting a four course dinner with four beer pairings as a fundraiser for the documentary Crafting a Nation. The event will feature one beer from Southern Appalachian Brewery, one from Highland Brewing Company and two complementary beers from the filmmakerʼs home state of Colorado: Upslope Brewing Company which is nestled up against the Rocky Mountains, and Wynkoop Brewing Company which was co-founded by Coloradoʼs current Governor John Hickenlooper.

The proceeds from the event will go to funding Crafting a Nation, a documentary highlighting the growing business of craft brewing in the United States. The film is the extension of Director Tom Kolickoʼs recent documentary on Coloradoʼs flourishing craft beer scene, Beer Culture the Movie. Now Crafting a Nation takes on the big picture of national beer enterprise including Southern Appalachian Brewery of Asheville. “Crafting a Nation is a testament to the power of creativity,” says Director Tom Kolicko. “People from across the nation are finding their niche by making beer and innovating ways to build a business that doesnʼt grow out of control or destroy the environment. Itʼs an important business model thatʼs revitalizing how people work in this troubled economy.”

Crafting a Nation captures the story of the eclectic group of visionaries behind this growing industry and how they came to love what they do. Each interview weaves the story of how the craft beer industry has become a model for success in a trying economy. “We could not be more excited to host an event that supports both film and beer,” comments William Dissen, Owner of The Market Place Restaurant. “We have a great community around craft beer here and we want to support it any way we can.”

Tickets are $50 per person and space is limited to 46 people. Reserve tickets now by emailing events@craftinganation.com. The Market Place Restaurant is located at 20 Wall Street in Asheville, NC.

Beginning with 4 flavors of handcrafted beer and 2 sodas, Head Brewer Dieter Kuhn has expanded their selection to all grain beers choosing from a list of 18 flavors.

Available in Western North Carolina establishments on tap and in two-liter German growlers from their location, Your Gnometown Brewery is proud to be a part of the North Carolina craft beer community. Heinzelmannchen is 1 of 60 breweries across the state with 18 in Western North Carolina and 18 in the planning stages.

Kuhn and his partner, Sheryl Rudd, express their thanks for all the support they have received over these 8 years. “The patronage of our customers that walk through our doors and request us on tap at establishments, the restaurants that carry us and the many folks that we have worked with over the years have brought us to this celebration and accomplishment. We feel truly blessed to be able to turn a dream into a reality and make it to this point in our business’ life!”

To mark this momentous occasion, Kuhn and Rudd invite you to their anniversary party on Saturday, April 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. They’ll be celebrating with food made from “Your Gnometown Cookbook,” beer/soda specials and prizes throughout the day. Rudd stated, “We opened on Greening Up the Mountains and always enjoy celebrating on this day of Sylva’s Downtown Festival. So, plan on celebrating with us and enjoying a day of artisans, music and fun!”

(Hickory, NC) – After months of being cloaked in secrecy, The Skull Coast Brewing Company, Inc. (“Skull Coast”), is pleased to announce that it will be setting up its brewing operations in the former “Hollar Hosiery Mill” in Hickory, North Carolina.

As part of a multi-million dollar historic preservation and redevelopment project, Skull Coast will be occupying the ground floor of the eastern “hanger” structure of the site. Access to the project’s only loading dock makes it ideal for Skull Coast’s operations.

In addition to the 30-bbl brewing system, currently being constructed by Bavarian Brewing Technologies, Skull Coast will be installing a Cask automated canning system to produce craft beer cans for off-premise accounts, and a roughly 1500 square foot taproom.

“We are unbelievably excited to have the opportunity to begin brewing again soon in our our own space, and hope to add in our own small way to the growing reputation and rich tradition of outstanding North Carolina breweries,” says Dave Fox, Skull Coast’s “Chief Drinking Officer.”

The developers of the Hollar Hosiery Mill project anticipate breaking ground in the next several weeks, and estimate that the Skull Coast Brewery portion of the overall project will be set to open in the Summer of 2012.

Press Release

(Charlotte, NC) – NoDa Brewing Company is pleased to announce after 120 days of operations, it is expanding its brewing capacity by 120% with the purchase of three – 30 barrel fermenters.

“We have been absolutely pleased and amazed with the tremendous reception our beer has received in the Charlotte market since we opened our doors on October 29, 2011,” says Todd Ford, Owner and Brewery Manager of NoDa Brewing Company. “Our beer is currently available in over 80 local establishments, and that number is growing each week. To keep up with production, we needed additional fermentation vessels.”

As luck would have it for NoDa Brewing Company, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, also in Charlotte, was experiencing growth and looking to expand.

“We’re selling these tanks to make room for larger ones in order to keep up with the exploding demand for our beer in Charlotte,” says John Marrino, Owner of Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. “When NoDa told me they also needed more tanks to fuel their rapid growth, it was a no brainer for us to make a deal. After all, we share a goal to make beer a local product once again in Charlotte. It’s a win-win-win situation. The third win is for Charlotte.”

Currently, NoDa’s fermentation capacity at any given time is 75 barrels (2,325 gallons), in 3 fermentation vessels. With the addition of these 90 barrels, its fermentation capacity, at any given time, is 165 barrels (5,115 gallons).

“We couldn’t be happier with the direction of the brewery and the ever growing craft beer culture in Charlotte,” says Suzie Ford, President of NoDa Brewing Company. “We feel honored to be a part of the craft beer movement locally. Shop local, buy local, eat local and drink local is the only way to go,” adds Ford.

About NoDa Brewing Company

NoDa Brewing Company currently has five year-round beers available on-tap at local bars & restaurants and the brewery tap room. In spring 2012, their first seasonal, Monk’s Trunks, a Belgian Pale Ale with seeds of paradise, will be added to the line-up. Its on-site tap room sells beer by the glass & take-home growlers and provides brewery tours as well as hosts special events. Look and ask for NoDa on tap at your local restaurant and bar.
