Morganton launches $50k start-up grant program, wants craft brewer

Morganton launches $50k start-up grant program, wants craft brewer

The City of Morganton in western North Carolina plans to grant up to $50,000 to fund a new start-up business within its city limits, and it is particularly interested in recruiting another craft brewery to the area.

Alan Clark, Manager of Business Development for the Burke County Tourism Development Authority, says that the “goal is to establish a sustainable business that creates jobs and adds to the tax base of the city.” He notes that “the ideal project [would] be a $200,000 or more investment in equipment, working capital, inventory, leasehold improvements, etc., where the $50,000 might ‘bridge the gap’ for a quality business plan that seeks financing.” Continue Reading »
