Five out of the thirty craft breweries from around the United States that have been invited to pour samples for members of Congress and their staff at the National Beer Wholesalers Association’s “Flavors of Fall” are from North Carolina. On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, Foothills, Fullsteam, Mother Earth, Natty Greene’s, and Pisgah will represent North Carolina breweries in the Rayburn House Office Building Cafeteria, where legislators and other government officials will have the opportunity to “sample some of the 13,000 labels of beer sold across America.”
It’s a testament to the thriving North Carolina craft beer community that one-sixth of these labels available for sample will be from the Tar Heel state.

Seabass
The sampling is important to relay the message but we really all make the trip to get the beer excise tax recalibrated to reflect the 1976 metric that where applied at the time. If the introduced bills make it we will see a good 4000 craft beer jobs created over the next five years. With every dollar that the government (=us people as a collective) does not get in tax revenue the craft beer industry will have an impact of about $10 of related economic activity. Since there are very few bills these days this is a long term project pursued by the BA and us members.

Seabass,
Thanks so much for the additional insight behind the trip, and we’re proud that you, along with the other North Carolina folks listed above, will be representing the best interests of NC breweries.
